‘I’m a student’

Posted on Updated on

One of the things I’ll miss the most is calling myself a student. When you are a student people don’t expect you to have amazing job, or your own place, you don’t have to be embarrassed to say you work in McDonald’s or any other shitty job, simply because you are a student, and it is the time when you enjoy your life rather than make big life decisions.

Being a student is a perfect middle, it is much better than being in high school or starting your life as a grown up. Why? Let me tell you why…

Remember the times in high school, young and free…or shall I say almost free. What I have against high school is that you still live with your parents and you are under age, so every single thing you will say, parents will always overrule you, you don’t have much freedom, you cannot skip the classes because your parents will be informed the very first minute, you cannot even drink legally. So if you think you’ll miss high school, I suggest you think again.

So what about being grown up? You have finished your studies, you don’t live with your parents, you can drink legally and if you are lucky enough, you are already having your own house. It’s fun, isn’t it? No it is not, because you have so much more responsibilities, you cannot just concentrate on having fun and you have fewer excuses, you will not stay up late partying because next day you have work, and simply you cannot be bothered anymore, people expect more from you when you are a grown-up, decisions, decisions and only decisions.. It gives me nausea even thinking about being a proper adult.

Now you starting to understand why being a student is that perfect middle, don’t you? You live with your university friends, you can drink and have as much fun as you want and don’t feel bad about it the next day. You don’t have to worry what people will think because once you say you are a student, they will only imagine you having three naps a day, having a pint with your friends, jobless but still respected. I can see only the perks of being a student.

I think there will be couple grumpy readers who will say: `but yeah what about assignments and exam stress`? Well, if you chose the right course for yourself you will only enjoy it like I did most of the time! All the stress you go through is being rewarded with freedom and careless three years of University. Enjoy while you can, because unless you are completely out of this world and cannot be bothered to pass or you want to do your master and PhD in life, you will never get to be a student again.

Goodbye summer holidays

Posted on Updated on

Unless you are planning on becoming a teacher or fail your exams to stay an extra year in uni…you will never get three months of holidays ever again. Goodbye, dream world, and hello harsh reality.

Didn’t you just love to spend all these months doing nothing, well maybe having a part time job, but other than that spending your time in the beach, clubbing, making new friends, and simply just enjoying the summer. You could just listen to music and do what you like, exercise, paint, write, and drink every single day. But now you will have to arrange your time for your hobbies and things you used to love to do. Because you will have a proper job, and no employer will give you three months holiday.

This summer is the last summer of freedom for you! So I highly recommend to plan it so you would never forget it.

Tips for this summer:

  1.  Sleep as much as you can – you will never be able to sleep in till afternoon, most of us will have to start waking up at 7am and be miserable and tired for the rest of the day.
  2. Festivals – go on a three days festival tour with your friends and drink and dance your soul out…because it is only appropriate to do so while you still young and have nothing better to do.
  3. Make mistakes – it is the best time to make mistakes and bad decisions because, no one will judge you, simply because you just finished your studies or still a student so you still fresh at this adult life.
  4. Fall in love hundreds of times! – we are at the age of love, we still not planning our marriages, but we want to explore the world with someone…go ahead and do it, if you don’t like with one person, you can always find another one. No strings attached, just enjoy the freedom of being young!
  5. Drink, drink, and once more drink – from morning until the night, 5 days a week, who cares, just do it. Because once you start your real life these things will end and you won’t even be capable of handling your drinks, so just drink.
  6. Travel – just take your passport and go, because the more you will stop exploring things, the lazier you will get within the time.
  7. Buy a puppy – ok, I don’t know why you should buy a puppy, just really love them so had to include it in my post!

Remember, being a grown up won’t be only bad things, you will have new things to look forward too. But if you’ll live your youth years to the fullest you won’t have any regrets later!

University Friends

Posted on Updated on

When I started university, I started a new chapter of my life. New city, new home, new friends. I never even imagined finding such an amazing friends. I believe for every single student same thing happened, and every single of us made some unforgettable friends.

I myself made three great friends Urte, Nick and Adam. For the past three years we were always together, group works, breaks, occasional trips out, etc. and yes, only three true friends I made, and I couldn’t imagine now those three years without them.

My lovely Lithuanian sister Urte, so good not to be the only foreigner in our group. From the day we met, we stick to each other’s side, we helped out, we translated to each other, we gossiped together! Doing everything was so much easier with Urte, together we were not afraid to look silly. I will miss so much those lovely curls and blue, blue eyes!

Mr Grumpy Nick, never met anyone like him in my life. He helped me a lot throughout the years, never refused on helping anyone. Very intelligent and funny, he always has his own unique opinion which I love! Always hating everyone and everything, I love that too, because I know deep down inside he is a sweetheart! P.s. now he will start hating me for calling him a sweetheart. Oh you Nick, always making us laugh with your sarcasm and mean jokes!

Sweet, sweet Adam, our groups fashion icon, he always looks so handsome and smart, even if he gets ready within 5 minutes, his hair will still look amazing. One of the sweetest people I have met!  Adam and Nick together made some great Russian jokes, which always used to make us laugh until tears started coming out of our eyes.

I love all of them so much, that it just breaks my heart to finish university only because we won’t hang out as often and we’ll see each other only once in a blue moon. Every single student can relate to me, and tell things about their friends which they will never forget. We should treasure these moments because good friends don’t come just like that in your life.

Doing useless things which will do you no good

Posted on Updated on

Everyone once in a while gets addicted to something that is not harmful to your health but only completely useless and time-consuming. Allow me to share my embarrassing story about getting addicted to a game `Clash of clans`.

Why I even started playing this game I have no idea. Wars, attacking, buying guns and upgrading your warriors, doesn’t really sound much of a girly thing, which normal girls would like to do. Oh well, despite all that, I started enjoying it very much, maybe even too much. I got my own village, used to wake up at night to upgrade my gold castle or wood workshop to another level, (you have to do that because it takes 8 hours and more until it upgrades everything, the more levels you achieve the longer it takes).

And that easily I became a no lifer! The game literally consumed me, all I could think of was I need more gold to upgrade things, it looks so funny and ridiculous now, but at that time it used to be so nerve wrecking. Once I started swearing and got so angry, because my village got attacked and I lost all my gold. Yeah… it makes me laugh now.

Let me show you the highlight of playing this game which almost made me burn my hair with the hair dye.

Despite, this game completely made the joke out of me. It was nice to know that I had the time to actually just do nothing and don’t feel bad about it. After I will graduate this time will be over, I will have to spend it more usefully and productively rather than playing games all day long.

And I know, if not playing games or just doing nothing, everyone has something they will have to give up after graduation or once they’ll step into the real world. So enjoy while you can, as we say in Lithuania `the cat days are over` because cats are so lazy.
